Biografia de Stratovarius
¿Quién es Stratovarius? - Stratovarius es una banda finlandesa de power metal fundada en 1984 en Helsinki. Su estilo es el power metal melódico, mezcla del power metal clásico con melodías y solos inspirados en la música clásica. Es una de las pioneras del power metal y el metal sinfónico y melódico. El nombre Stratovarius es un nombre compuesto por dos nombres relacionados con instrumentos musicales: Stradivarius (apellido del conocido luthier italiano, y cuyos violines son apreciados por los músicos) y Stratocaster (modelo de la marca de guitarras Fender). Todo comienza cuando 3 muchachos de Finlandia se juntan para formar una banda. El nombre de aquellos muchachos eran: Staffan Stråhlman, John Vihervä y Tuomo Lassila, quienes formarían su primera banda con el nombre de Black Water que posteriormente sería cambiado a Stratovarius por el guitarrista Timo Tolkki cuando entró a la banda en 1985. La banda había tomado influencia de agrupaciones como Queensrÿche y Rainbow. - - Después de un año como banda y de sacar dos demos, Staffan Stråhlman decide dejar la banda y dar lugar a otro guitarrista. El líder y fundador de la banda Tuomo Lassila decide entonces buscar a un guitarrista que se encargue de la guitarra y la voz. Tras varias audiciones encuentran a un muy buen guitarrista llamado Timo Tolkki, un joven finlandés proveniente de Nurmijärvi que jamás había tocado en una banda antes. Con Timo Tolkki en la guitarra y en la voz, Tuomo Lassila decide buscar un teclista de origen finlandés para completar la banda, uniéndose Antti Ikonen. Flor de lis, Símbolo de la banda. Con la banda formada buscan una discográfica que los patrocine para publicar su primer disco. Tras recorrer algunas discográficas de Finlandia acaban firmando con CBS Finland, una famosa discográfica de aquel país. En 1987 John Vihervä decide abandonar la banda y es reemplazado por Jyrki Lentonen un joven bajista de origen Fnlandés. En 1988 lanzaron sus dos primeros singles, "Future Shock" y "Black Night". En el año 1989 sería lanzado su primer álbum titulado Fright Night, que iría acompañado de una pequeña gira por Europa en la que visitaron países como Dinamarca, Rusia y Noruega. - - Después de haber lanzado el álbum Stratovarius II, se haría una nueva versión de él ya que la discográfica alemana Noise Records vería el álbum y les daría la oportunidad a la banda de lanzar el álbum internacionalmente ya que el dueño de la disquera quedó sorprendido de que tan buen álbum no fuera tomado en cuenta. En 1992 regrabaron nuevamente el álbum y cambiaron el Título del álbum a Twilight Time y fue lanzado en toda Europa y algunos países del Continente Asiático. Además editan la canción Break The Ice en ese año. Después de haber lanzado el álbum a la venta tendrían un impresionante número de ventas en Japón donde superarían el número de ventas de bandas como X Japan, Deep Purple y Black Sabbath. Sorprendiendo a los finlandeses que no se lo imaginaban, ya con el éxito en Japón planearían su primera gira internacional visitando algunos países de Europa y Asia. - - Después de la fama conseguida con Twilight Time, sale de la banda Jari Behm quien tuvo poca participación en la banda a pesar de haber permanecido dos años en ella, entonces la banda decide no descansar y contratan a Jari Kainulainen que reemplaza a Jari Behm en el bajo y lanzan su próximo álbum que sería titulado Dreamspace poniendo a la venta dos demos y liberando la canción Wings Of Tomorrow, el álbum obtuvo mayor cantidad de ventas que sus 2 álbumes anteriores y es el primero en que participa el joven Jari Kainulainen con la banda; ya después de esto la banda saldría nuevamente de gira y, además, el álbum superaría el número de ventas de su anterior obra. Por otra parte Tolkki logra su sueño de lanzar un álbum como solista titulado Classical Variations And Themes en el mismo año que fue lanzado el Dreamspace. -; Ver BiograFia Completa
